UK Training and equipment
Hi all!
Has anyone had experience of using Esprit in the UK for both training and equipment? How does it rate?
I'm looking at potentialy starting in the industry as I'm bored in the confides of an office every day. I plan to start off slowly alongside my current job and build up enough custom to do it full time. With my current work pattern I could do 1 job a day to learn the ropes as I work mornings/afternoons. That's the plan at least! I spent 10 years in the Royal Marines so have got a strong work ethic and have spent the past 3 years in Transport Management so have a decent grasp of business and how it works.
If you don't rate Esprit what are the other market leaders for both equipment and training?

Hi Andy, I have been trying to call you today. I have used Esprit many times as I have trained many people who used it for years and who now use Delta.
As I sell Delta and I am by far and away the most experienced trainer in the UK my opinion may be biased, however I will happily supply you with some names of very experienced guys in the UK who have been here for training if you would like references.
I am passionate about doing repairs properly, as you will see by my many years of posting on this and other forums,
it is the effort you put in after the job is done that counts.
As I sell Delta and I am by far and away the most experienced trainer in the UK my opinion may be biased, however I will happily supply you with some names of very experienced guys in the UK who have been here for training if you would like references.

I am wondering if all you UK Windscreen Techs charge V A T on you invoices when repairing a WINDSREEN

Those of us making enough money do so, but I would imagine most repair only guys would struggle to turnover £82,000 or $131,000 pa.

So screenman there must b a cap on a figure b 4 u have to pay v a t (ie value added tax) am l reading u correctly? What is the % ??

You do not charge VAT or indeed reclaim it until your business turnover is £82,000pa, you can opt in under that amount but most people do not.

RE UK sceenman Is there a deductible on a Windscreen for Insurance , I was just over across the pond in Wales & Ireland and Iwas advised that in Northern/ Ireland there is a deductible on a Windscreen

By deductible you mean does the customer have to contribute towards the costs then yes there certainly is, even on repair. Most of the more successful repairers I know do not bill insurers. When I do a retail customers which in itself is a rarity I always get paid from the customer who would rather that than take a hit on increased insurance cost for the next 5 years.
I expect it is the same over there, a glass claim may not affect the no claims bonus but may well affect the premiums, something that some insurers do not share with the customer.
