Does type/brand of sandpaper matter?
I know that most sandpaper is made from either aluminum oxide or silicon carbide. Does it matter which type or which brand I use, or am I over-thinking this?

Hi!
No, you're not over thinking.
It takes many hours of trial and error to get the right sequence to work.
And when you do, it's only for the brand you are using. Each brand is different.
Do you use Delta? Your own? Wet sand?
Cheers,
Pommy

I like the Endassa discs that Delta sells. I buy them from a local supplier cheaper than what Delta sells them for.

Re: Does type/brand of sandpaper matter?
I bought my supplies before I found the Delta website. I'm using 320, 500, and 800 grit discs from Meguiar's. They are dry sand only discs. After 800, I then wet sand by hand with 1200 and 2000 grit Meguiar's papers. Their discs above 800 grit are those weird foam discs, and I swear they don't cut at all! The 1500 grit foam disc give me about the same level of cut as a 2500 grit Meguiar's unigrit paper, so I do everything above 800 by hand.pommy wrote:

Someone recommended I use Mirka or Abralon. How do you like those, and how do you like the brand Delta sells?

Sure, you can "bring it back" but not for long
