Why use Delta Kits to start my WSR biz?
Hello all, I'm seriously considering starting my own business in the WSR and HLR fields and I'm curious to what the opinions are from all you out there who have experience. My question is, "Are Delta Kits the best? And if so, what makes them better (or worse) than other companies like GlasWeld, Glass Technology, LR, American Windshield Repair Systems, U.S. Windshield Repair, etc.?"
Can I start with a less expensive repair system and "graduate" to a higher quality kit? Does anyone have some advice for a humble WSR and HLR aspirant?
Thanks in advance.

In the big picture of WSR, I am just a small part time player who has been successfull for my level of involvment. Even had a few accomplishements along the way and I believe in and rely on Delta Kits products. So this is "my" opinion. Is Delta Kits the best? Well for me it is but for others it may be a different answer. You will have to decide what your specific needs are and what you want and expect out of the equipment. That can only be decided by you.
If it is important to you to have...
1. well engineered tooling that not only is constructed to last a lifetime and simple to use not to mention just feels great in your hand then DKI is a good fit.
2. a MFG with a customer service commitment beyond the sale and genuine desire to help you succeed, then DKI would be a good fit.
3. tooling that is easy to setup, breakdown and clean then DKI would be a good fit.
4. tooling with minimal moving parts and seals then DKI would be a good fit.
5. the same level of quality products weather you choose a basic kit to start or a more comprehensive kit then DKI is a good fit
6. tooling that by design comes with an minimal learning curve to become confident and proficient then DKI is a good fit.
What ever you decide, after your purchase, the tooling may be capable of doing the job but if the user does not know how to use the tools it wont matter what brand you have unless you take the time to learn the tooling and the MFG recommended process.
Good Luck in your research.

Always buy the best tools you can afford for the task at hand, if you plan on being in the field for any length of time. Good tools pay for themselves in the lack down time and broken parts.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. Until I can save enough money for a Delta Kit I'm considering going with one of American Windshield Repair Systems Kits. Does anyone have any experience, comments, or suggestions about these tools? Their website says they've been in business for 20 years. Any more advice for this newbie? Thanks again...

You say you are seriously considering? Well if after due dilligence you're not ready to commit to a full effort then it doesn't matter how much you spend for tools because they'll end up on a shelf in your garage gathering dust.
From my experience and from talking to many techs, you need at least
$2000 for tools, training, marketing materials and office supplies. Then any local licensing you might need. Check with your city clerks office to see what kind of business license you need.
Then depending on your personal situation you will need some operating cash, at least $500.
Many techs have a spouse with a good job and benefits that supports them while they "dabble" with no real pressure to make money or grow.
If you need money and need it now, I suggest working for a company that will pay you while training and you can work a year or two to determine if windshield repair is really what you want to do.

Afterthoughts--
Where is your business going to come from?
There is no kit manufacturer that includes a magic device that makes your phone ring--
Can you get out and look for work? Or network with the local chamber of commerce, or BNI? Are you a member of any civic organizations?
Can you coldly and boldly introduce yourself to people you've never met and tell them about your WSR service?
Do you know anyone now that is successful in WSR?
Do you have a sense of how long it takes to gain confidence in your repair skills?
There is an abundance of help on this forum and depending on where you are, there may be someone close that will mentor you.
Good luck!!!!!

Why not just buy a used DK injector?
Look in the For Sale section of the forum.

Re: Why use Delta Kits to start my WSR biz?
If you cant buy new try used as Bill suggested. You need training no matter which system you purchase. Operating blind or feeling your way through the process is not wise. I watched all the youtube videos for months. I still wasnt prepared in my opinion. I took the 8 hour class at DK and it all came together. It still takes practice and a learning curve. Its been more than 3 years and I learn something new every week. I read this forum and practice. Lots of free information. Without proper tools you can't do the job either. Why invest in cheap stuff when you can buy good tools for a fraction of the cost more, and will last. DK and other well knowns that will work with you to get you started. Read SGT's post again. You need a plan and you need to arm yourself with more knowledge, based on your post. Think of your plan like a road map. You need to know where you are and the directions to get to where you want to go. Positive actions is your short term goal. Welcome to the forum.
