Is anyone a member of a barter exchange?
Hey all, I just recently joined a startup barter exchange here in Montana. I know that these things are a bigger deal in more populated areas and was wondering if any of you are members of one. If so has it also benefitted your cash sales? How do you handle a contact made via the barter exchange who decides to bill insurance? Thanks!!

Not a member of such, but last month bartered two chip repairs ($65.00 and $20.00) for a rather old Excaliber brand scroll saw which I had wanted one for a long time. Works great and a nice addition to my wood craft shop.
Several years ago when doing $50.00 repairs bartered with the owner of a frequented restaurant for $75.00 in meal tickets. His cost no doubt less than $50.00.
Always interested in ways to increase bottom line and bartering sometimes can help by reducing out lay of cash.

Tried it a couple of times. I never found it to be much of a benefit but that was years ago. Hopefully with the economy the way it is more people will get interested in bartering.
Hey Ben, what part of Montana are you in? I grew up in Missoula but also lived in Kalispell, Whitefish, Billings, and for a summer, Yellow Bay. I worked in North Eastern Montana for several years as well. Lots of fond memories!

Brent, I knew you were in Billings for a time! Had no idea you used to live just down the road from me. I live in Woods Bay. Born in Missoula, grew up in Columbus. Have lived in all the places you listed with the exception of Whitefish. I lived in Seattle for a couple of years out of high school. I'm a Montana boy through and through. I feel like I'm on a different planet anywhere else. I can't think of any place in the world I'm more fascinated with than where I have the pleasure of living.
And yeah, this new barter exchange network out of Kalispell is getting some interest so we'll see how it goes.

I'll make this short as I don't mean to hijack your topic. Woods Bay is a little slice of heaven, or at least it used to be the last time I was there. Give me a call sometime if you ever want to chat a bit.
Let us know how the bartering works out for you.
