I had seen resin flow into all ends of the star break while repairing the break. However, I still could see those faint lines from an specific angle inside the car, and from another angle, those faint lines will not be seen.
What's reason?
Is it because the resin and the glass have the different index of refraction? Can this be taken as a qualified repair in your opinion?
This repair looks as good as it could possibly get I think. I have a far less trained eye than some on here, however. On some of these breaks you will always see a "skeleton" or scar but can guarantee the damage not to spread. I would say that lives up to the 80% cosmetic improvement. Good Job!!!
It looks good from here. Glass is a funny animal. Repairs that you think should be nearly invisible sometimes stand out like a sore thumb, and others you are just positive are going to look bad, turn out nearly invisible. Every break and each leg has its own refraction. My standard statement to a customer is that the #1 priority of repair is to restore structural integrity to the glass. We always do the best we can on the cosmetic improvement, but that is a secondary issue. Set the customer's expectation upfront so that you don't have to defend yourself afterwards.
Yes I would say it's a decent repair. Maybe could be better but sometimes having done every possible preocedure to eliminate faint edges lines, occasionally that just happens.
looks pretty good, If you carry a little flashlight with you in your kit, shine the light over it at different angles on the inside and outside, if you don't see that glitter effect, that has some shine to it, you should be good.
Keep in mind, we're in the REPAIR business, not the "IT WILL LOOK NEW AGAIN" business.
