Jump start for a new business

Hi All,

I am brand new to this business, but I fell like my HLR and WSR skills are up to par and I am ready to start getting after it and making some money. I was wondering if any of you have tried your local "coupon clipper" type periodicals for advertising. I really want to jump start my business and think it would be nice to have to as little salesmanship as possible in the beginning. Any comments are appreciated.

in this economy you need to align yourself (register) with the large insurance carriers to get in the 10k to 20 k per year range. Its unlikely local spot advertising will be cost effective. Another option might be hitting the pavement (parking lots etc...) placing card, coupon, phony "ticket" with info/ discount ... Be creative - Do mobile appt's for a shop thats not mobile ?!? There is only 2 WAYS Go get the business OR receive the business from INS Companies - Lots of advantages and disadvantages to both ....

I agree that you need to be innovative in this economy to find opportunities for business. Insurance companies are where the best opportunities can be because it's steady work and they pay. Also, hitting the pavement is the traditional way to sell things. However, there are online places to be listed which may help sales a little bit! It's tough out there, but with a little creativity and good customer service, you will see increased sales! Good luck!

t4k - I would like to know the same - surely the reference is to WR's?

To get HLR - You'd have to find what body shops are on the authorized repairers for the insurance company, and approach them, not the insurance company.

But - if you tell a body shop that you can do something cheaper, it may not work out better as they have their own "special" way of making money with the way they prepare quotes

Hop on craigslist and check img-only cars that look like they're well cared for with bad lenses. I did one car and the client gave me 2 more cars and referrals. Korey gave me this advice. I've only tried it once.. and maybe it's beginner's luck, but give it a try and tell me how it goes.

Be honest.

PS... just got my DELTA system after working with a large corporation that has spread it's wings too far for my liking. I'll update as I progress!

If you know anyone in marketing or business and excited about it, ask if they'd be ok to help proof a sell-sheet. It can make or break your initial impression.

Start with friends and random people you know. Go hang out with them doing something you thought wouldn't be exciting. You may find something you never thought you'd enjoy and meet people that immediately become part of your life. I'd like to think of it as reciprocation of good deed.

It's also good to get e-mail addresses from your clients. Some will be so ecstatic about their fresh lenses, but they forget how the old ones looked. Send before and after photos with your regards..
