Now I'm not saying they're inferior to retail or other jobs, but just curious what fell in place or what you did to get a dealership account/job?
Me and my first, I work with someone who has a brother-in-law who's a service manger at a dealership.
How did you get your FIRST dealership job/account?

Re: How did you get your FIRST dealership job/account?
I got my first call the same way I got all my others, by knocking on doors frequently almost to the point that they thought I lived there
One of my customers I remember took 17 calls before I got my first job off of them ( quick calculation) they have now spent about £170,000+++ with me.
I feel this way, the harder it is for me to get my foot through the door the harder it will be for somebody to take the customer off me.
In selling one or two calls is seldom enough.

Cold calls, free demo, persistence, tenacity, stubbornness, and a never give up attitude = dealer accounts that keep on paying. The biggest winner in the list for many was the free demo. Compared to the replacement shop repairs normally done in my neck of the woods, a WSR tech repair makes a difference.

I’m still new to this, so the cold calling method is very new to me. The only two fleet accounts I got is because I knew the right person. How do you go about cold calling? Who do you talk to and what do you tell them?vintage wrote:Cold calls, free demo, persistence, tenacity, stubbornness, and a never give up attitude = dealer accounts that keep on paying. If it's too much of a secret, just shoot me a PM.
Thanks!

Offer them a free demo and stop by every week to re-introduce yourself.
Really no secret...just have to be persistent!

No secret, but there are some good books on the subject, and one you should read every year is How to make friends and influence people, by Dale Carneghie, an old book with information that makes sence even to this day.
Have a plan, know what you are offering, know your competition, have answers to there questions and concerns, and be sure to be positive.

I have to agree, my best account was gained by a free demo on my 2nd/3rd visit! [cant rememeber which!]vintage wrote:Cold calls, free demo, persistence, tenacity, stubbornness, and a never give up attitude = dealer accounts that keep on paying.
