Would this be a good marketing technique?

Offer to pay the customer to repair their windshield, Tell them it does'nt cost them infact they make money! Offer $1.00 per Crack?

I figure the reason the windshield is'nt repaired already is because nobody wants to stop and wait or put forth the effort, But if there is money involved it could very well become a different story!

Only full coverage Ins. applies!

What do you think?

Chris,
Just so you know, that is considered a crime. Anytime you offer someone money for turning in a claim on their insurnace you start messing with very strict laws in place. It is also considered a felony. Many states it is illigal to even waive a deductable. That doesn't mean people don't do it, however if you got caught doing that make sure you have a great attorney.

Coister is right you have to be very careful on how you word it or you will have a lot of time to think about it. The is a car repair place in Austin that advertised that they would pay you when you brought you wreck vehicle in for a insurance claim but for some odd reson it did not air on the radio for very long???????????????????I dont know why!

Chris,

This is just my opinion but here's what will generally happen if you start advertising money for repairs. I know this from operating a glass shop in a very competive area where everybody started giving out big deductibles for jobs. It started out at $50 off, then went to $75, $100, $150 and as high as $200. Guess what happpened? Fifty percent of the smaller shops priced themselves right out of business.

If you started out by giving a dollar back, who's to say the next guy doesn't offer $2 then $5 or possibly $10 back. It's a good idea... but one I never wish to see implemented in this area.

Yeah, I saw that article yesterday, Repair1. Refairs to their Canadian operation, eh?

Chris.

We shouldn't think in terms of money as an incentive for someone with full coverage to repair a ding. I convince those people using a number of points that, hopefully, make sense to them.

Among those are the chance of receiving a less than OEM quality replacement, breaking the original factory seal (when applicable), and the real possibility of shoddy replacement workmanship.

I then explain to them the role that modern windshields play in the overall structure of the vehicle during roll-overs as well as being a back-stop for deployed air bags.

If that don't convince them, nothing will short of giving them a few of MY greenbacks.

Not.
