What would cause this type of crack?

Here's the deal. I doubt that damage will get any worse or better. Circular damage of that type will most likely remain the same for some time. That windshield needs replacement. Pretty much a plain and simple solution. If they choose to live with it...so be it. To repair this would not change what they need to do.

My 3 1/2" damage has not grown any in over 2 years per my test. I would feel like a fool if I charged a customer for 28 repairs on one break, and would never attempt it at any price. My God, a new glass in Atlanta is only $150!!! The largest whore here charges $15 per repair, big company, but for the life of me I can't think of their name!!!! Some one told me about them.
