No, it is very effective on hot days to cool you and the gkass. You knew this, so why did you post-need another post for your record? Shame on you. Not enough air time, recently?

I use the small 4 cup UV cover from delta. If Iam doing two breaks I use a dark towel and it works just as well. Both fold up and go in my box. I do plan to get the UV dome for drizzle rain days, but the shipping is almost the same price as the dome. You seem to have the basic items. If you dont have a thermometer you need to get one. You also need to stocl a few white end seals for your injector.

An umbrella allows you to work in the sun and rain.

On hot sunny days it is very important to cool the glass to avoid flowering and the dreaded crack out.
The umbrella creates shade and some kind of cheap alcohol (I use methyl hydrate) soaked on a rag and wiped around the chip
cools things down quickly, and open all the doors.

You can work in the rain with an umbrella and I think a squeegee is necessary for wet windshields, wiping with a cloth or paper towel wont work as well.

As long as nobody expects the umbrella to block UV that is great, I agree they are a useful tool.

The umbrella also doesn't stop rain from running off the roof and down the windshield. You need something above the bridge to block the water. A bubble dome works if the break is positioned so you can get the top edge of the seal on the glass but you should always have a backup plan. I've seem some pretty creative contraptions to keep water from running down the glass, some of them that work quite well, but I just kept bath towels in my truck to cover the top edge of my UV flexible screen or bubble dome. Simple, inexpensive and worked very well for me. You also need to be careful when using umbrellas in windy areas so you don't damage a customer's car.

Guys,
No where have I ever posted about using the umbrella in the rain, it's use is strictly for cooling the glass and me. And no, it is not a UV shield, never said it was. It should be mounted as far away from the damage as possible. Use on windy days is not advised, the same reason I don't use a tent. Buy it on sale or make your own like Sunshine wsr did, it will make you happy.

I think the best use for the umbrella is advertisement.

I was responding to chipfix. All the reasons you mentioned are valid and like Bill I think they can be very good for advertising. A lot of people really seem to like the Liquid Resins umbrella so far be it for me to knock it.

Now most of the people on here know that an umbrella does not block UV, however we had another post from a guy the other day who did not know that UV existed in the shade.

usmc68. No need to dig about air time, just trying to give a little knowledge to those without experience. Remarks like that tend to make one ask why they bother.
