I meatured the thickness of the outer layer of the glass of the windshield I bought, the thickness is about 0.079 inch---the question is: Is it a standard thickness? I mean if the thickness(outer layer) of all car model's windshield just the same, 0.079 inch?
How deep is the best depth to drill for 0.079" outer layer glass to make a small bullseye easily? What is the best angle to place the awl to pop out a small bullseye? Thank you, everyone.

Re: About the thickness of the windshield
Windshield thickness is pretty standard in different countries. Trucks and RV industry use thicker plates. A good tool to gauge depth is Delta's spring hammer. I don't use Delta equipment but I have the spring hammer in my tool box for those rare occasions. You should not get in the habit of drilling. Drilling is reserved for stopping cracks and old breaks that don't allow resin to flow in.

Re: About the thickness of the windshield
No, not all w/s are the same thickness on the outer layer. The deeper you drill, the smaller your bullseye will be. Depends on how big you want your bullseye to be. Frank is right. If you had some good training you would have already known this.
