What was the deciding factor in everyone's decision to get in the windshield repair business? Well I brought up the subject I guess I will go first. Please excuse by spelling.
Well I decided to get in the windshield repair business when I got a chip in my windshield so I started checking in to it I figured this business would be a lot easier on my body and renting up and down a letter all day painting. I am glad that I decided to get this business started and I cannot wait to jump in to it with both feet. This should not be much longer because my job at RadioShack is plain out. I have been with them for 10 years so I cannot just quit because they will give me a severance package when they let me go this year. P.S. if anyone need to purchase something from RadioShack stores let me know may be I can save you a dollar or two.

I got into it my first year out of school because I had friends that were doing it and doing very well. (Yeah, I'm only 31 and have 12 years in the biz.)

So I copied them. 8) Otherwse I never would have even thought of it. And if I had thought about it, I doubt I would have tried it because I would have thought it's just another scam from the "own your own biz and get rich" ads. I'm not much of a gambler. :(

It was easy for me at the time because I had no family to feed and no mortgage.

In 1989, I was doing roofing as a sideline to my 7 on, 7 off job.I had just bought a brand new car, got a rock chip, called the Novus guy out to my job.He was there less than 30 minutes and charged me $47.50 which I was more than happy to pay. This is when I decided it may be time to change sideline jobs. I made it a point to have a few more windshields repaired(Insurance paid these) and used this to further investigate this business. By 1991, I had several insurance companies referring clients to me and today I'm still keeping it simple, just myself and one more tech. This business has been very good to me , along with a lot of hard work. I Love it!!

Gr8 topic, Thanks for asking!
Other than 8 years as an OTR Owner/Operator-( I've passed through EVERYONE'S hometown except OptiKleer) I've either been in school or a sales/service business.
Last summer, like an idiot, I sprayed some water on my Subaru to cool the metal & hit the windshield. NASTY CRACK?:~(
Remembered the interest I had back 86 to do this business, used the internet to reseaqrch it and Pesto! DId I mention how much I LOVE my Delta bridge?
Now as a fulltime student for the last 2 years, I'm unemployable at my age for decent part-time work. I average 3 or 4 hours a day usually, so I only make $120- $180 bucks?:~D)

Well- Here's my story since you asked- I was doing delivery for quite a while and my husband came home one day and said " Your going to start your own business". I had been hit 2 times in 2 years (not my fault) and him or the kids didn't like me driving 8 or 9 hrs a day. At some point the odds are against you. I kinda looked at him like he was off his rocker. After checking into it more we got things arranged and today I had the best day possible!!!!!! I love it!!!! I did one small repair for a trade for some minor work on my car and ended up doing one insurance job and a cash job from the same place...The best part is- I was offered to set up on their lot (busy corner) at least once a week and if I'm not there they will make appointments for me!! They figure thier business will help mine and vise versa!!!!!! I love it!! Much better with a bad back than loading and unloading parts all day and more profitable too!!!!
Have a great day everyone! Best of luck to all.... Me
