Re: cant fill long crack!
Hi specialeffects, welcome.
Allow me to bother you with my thoughts. I just noticed that you have joined the forum today. And this is your very first post here. And you directly dump your question. That's fine, but why don't you tell us a little more in your first post, for instance about your whereabouts and the system you're using?
Since you did not share any details about the system you are using, it will be too complicated to andwer your question.
I have also four questions for you: (1) What system are you using, (2) did you use a UV-shield,(3) what resin did you use and (4) were you trained (properly)?

i'm using a delta kits set with magnabond resin, followed all the steps shown on the delta kits training cd, i didnt use a UV shield. i'm new to this, they made the process look so easy while watching the vids on the website!

Plus to you newbies, UV rays WILL bounce off of glass, so always use a shield. Keep that in mind even inside a shop!

Re: cant fill long crack!
Did you use a crack opener/expander? Are you certain that the crack was free of moisture or other contamination? What was the approximate temperature of the glass? Did the crack extend to the edge of the glass? Was the crack more vertical or more horizontal? Where on the glass was the crack located? What technique did you use to inject the resin into the crack?

Re: cant fill long crack!
i followed the instructions as shown on the dvd which came in my delta kits system. i drilled a hole near the end of the crack, popped a small bullseye, then inject the resin, it went in easily about 4 inches then i applieda few drops on the crack every 1/2" or so but that didnt seem to work. is there another way to fill these cracks, by the way i dont have a UV shield and crack expander, they didnt come in my kit. thanx

Re: cant fill long crack!
Did you purchase a brand new kit @Delta Kits, or was it pre-owned and found at Ebay (or alike)? Came the DVD in that kit?
This is interesting information, thank you for sharing it here with us (and do not feel silly!).
Anyway, here's a brief advice to all of you new (and future repairers), whatever system your'e working with (or going to invest in), you should at all times have and use a UV-shield! And while you're looking at your new kit, you also should include a moisture evaporator.
Regardless the system you are using (or looking at). You really need both items. Do not be penny wise, pound foolish.
