NEED GLASSES ?
This may help some of you other old geezers like me who depend on bifocals. I saw a friend working on appliances a while back and he was wearing upside down bifocals so he could look under the appliances easier. So I'm thinking (rare moment) Hey this might work for me when I'm leaning way over the hood of a tall vehicle. Now, this is really a pain for me literaly because I have arthritic spurs in my neck and forcing my head backwards to see through my bifocals sends me home with a nasty headache. So I thought I might as well try it. I went to the mall optical store that was advertising "buy one get one free" . So I had them make one new pair the regular way and I asked them to make the second pair upside down. After they quit laughing, I explained why and they said they would. They do take a little getting used to, tipping your head down instead of up, but no more headaches for me. Hope you don't have this problem, but if you do, hope this helps you too.

Re: NEED GLASSES ?
I did this over a yr ago. I had a pair of "ocupational" glasses made to my spec's. I have my regualer scrip in the glasses, My bifocal in the bottom at 12" length and the top bifocal at my arms length of choice of 18 - 22".
This way I can reach across a shield, look down a little to get my top bifocal to view my work...
I broke my neck yr's ago and hated to do breaks in the middle because I knew I was going to have a headache and neckache for the rest of the day... I do not mind it anymore...
What a world of a differance seeing what I am doing now....
My ocupationals cost me 160.00 no tintings and cheep metal frames. They stay in the work box.
My DR. also laughed at me till I walked him out to a car and showed him what I was doing... The lights went on for him at this time.... He said he sells them to electrions for over head working.
I thought about mine when I saw a frind of my shooting pool with his scrip on the top side... My lights whent on at that time....
Well worth it.

GM used to sell a crazy pair of glasses that allowed you to focus and magnify from far away but they don't sell it anymore. Anyone know of a substitute? The loupe I'm using works great if you get right up on the break but its sometimes difficult to probe and check for water contamination.

It works great. I couldnt imagine working without it.
You can see a lot better when you drill.

When I do a windshield repair I use our OU812 model inspection LED light and 5X magnification safety glasses.
