High Tmp & Humidity

Post by candyman »

I did a HLR yesterday on a 2005 cadilac. I used the new 3000 pad instead of polish. I applied the UV coating as normal. It did not dry like it should have. This was a new bottle. The temp was 79 degrees and humid, about 9am. I dont know if it was the heat or using that pad. I am going back tomorrow and redo those lens. It looked fine the first few seconds then hazed over. My kits were in the house until 15 minutes prior to the job. I have seen during hot days last year a slight haze, but it cleared in a few hours. This is new to me. The temp for the past few days has ranged from 95 to 105 by 3pm then rains showers after 5 pm.
I will keep you guys posted. I have 2 HLR's today and the temp is suppose to be about the same. I will see if this was just a fluke. Anyone else in the south having this problem.

No problem here. You might want to try letting your coating reach ambient temperature prior to using it. If it was in your house, just prior to use, it was probably 10-20 degrees cooler than the outside air and lens temperature.

Just taking a wild guess because I have never encountered this problem.

Forgot to mention...it was not the pad. I have not polished in a year or more and I've never had the hazing problem.

Update: I did a HL at 10am, temp 83F, Hot but not very humid. Nissan Altima: No problems; WOW Factor: I stopped by to check on the cadillac I did yesterday to redo the lens. Guess what? It had clered up and looked fine. I never really thougt about the chemicals being colder than the lens. I also had it in the vehicle near the ac duct while I was driving. The difference in the two days. The chemicals were in the vehicle for 3 hours while I was in the doctors office. My customer was about 6 minutes from my med appointment. Not enough time for the ac to affect it because it was still in the kit. Also the lens on the caddilac was warmer to the touch, and more humid. live and learn.
