If you need practice working on the pitch talk the local gas Station guy into letting you sell to his customers for a couple days walking up and talking to a starnger is the best practice

Re: Need Help Getting Business
Lots of good advice on this blog. If you need money fast and you can sell yourself and look professional, and know how to do the repairs, I suggest the following.
1. Service station, with plenty of traffic that has enough parking room that you can work, and not interfer with customers:
2. Find a busy inspection station, that is willing to work with you.
3. Locate a busy detailing, or car wash that doesn't include your services. Offer a $5 referal fee for each that you do. This doesn't sound like much to some but in my area its enough, and my prices are reasonable.
4. Go to the local Hospital and ask if you may set up. Offer for that day only a discount to all employees that may need your services. When visitors see what you are doing they also may become potential customers. I do both WSR & HLR:
The few ideas above will give you some quick cash and create future referals or scheduled appointments. Your customers need to be able to trust you and your ability. How you look and talk about your trade will determine the outcome.

Re: Need Help Getting Business
I'm in the process now of finding an ideal location. I thought I had one, it was a gas station in an office complex that had live music at nights with bar and a deli for customers while they waited. Unfortunately, it couldn't get approved by county because of some private business association that runs the area. I'm going to find another spot though that will work, there are plenty to choose from in my area.
Re: Need Help Getting Business
I know the feeling. when I first started I was getting one or twp jobs a week. I'm not a salesperson. And all the business i tried working something out with either didn't send me any work or they were not interested. Setting up a tent spot gave me very little work also. Pay per call like yext and AT&T pay per call was useless and I think is a scam. I have a friend who has me at the top of google for 65.00 dollars a month that brings me in lots of work (if anyone wants his phone # email me). But what has realy saved me since im not a sales person is the networks. These are the ones that I belong to Harmon, Gerber, Lynx, Travelers, and Safelite networks. The ones I've signed on with in the last week Guardian, Teleglass, and Netcost; these I have not recieved any work from as of yet but i have only been in there network for a few weeks. If anyone has any othere networks they would like to share with the rest of the class it will be welcomed.

@Jbordie, I always thought Yext and the rest of the pay per call services seemed fishy...Jbrodie wrote:I know the feeling. when I first started I was getting one or twp jobs a week. I had a few (n00b) questions regarding what you said
1. What is the cost for subscribing to a network?
-Do you have to buy their glass or anything else they sell?
-How much work do you receive from the networks?
-How much work do you receive from google?
I would guess that google is your best bet since you wouldn't have to deal with invoices or some of those horror stories I hear...
Thanks a lot for your help!
P.S I will email you to get your friends email and phone #.
Thanks again!

All those may work but if you want cash in your pocket today put on you uniform shirt look professional and head over to the nearest buisness park. Find a car with a chip and walk in ask who it belongs to and do the job its that easy I do it everyday
