Well, I have not seen any new TV ads, but they're really pushing it here on the Radio on several stations......

The ad is just about Repairs.....

And if course it ends with their jingle....

"Safelite Repair....Safelite Replace"

I hate that jingle

For NJ, a online quote for a stone break on a Dodge pickup from Safelite was $129.00. I've gone back and checked it a couple times with the same result. I'm charging $95, $75 to partner auto shops and some windshield replacement companies as a subcontractor. They charge $95 or whatever they want. Costs them nothing and they make a profit and can brag about breaking Safelite's legs on price. I even print them brochures with their name on it for free.

One auto glass shop I sub-contract all their repairs gave me a job for Safelite. Paid $65, it was local so I took it. I also know Safelite is getting the big franchises like Cruise America and rental companies charging only $35 because the get the volume.

I stay now with a few car dealerships, car detailers, auto body shops are great, repair and tire shops small and large, and offer them a partnership deal where they make a profit as well with a phone call.

I have had many private consumer jobs in the past couple months where they told me flat out that the Safelite commercials made them paranoid even the smallest break would spread, but they did not trust Safelite. They saw it as a bait and switch to sell a windshield.

My biggest marketing slogan is I DO NOT SELL WINDSHIELDS! Call me FIRST for an honest appraisal! That is the message you need to hit home. I tell them if I can't repair it nobody can and then they will know they need to replace it. I pound this home on my website and every partner business I approach.

In your case, I would take you average for the last 6 months, and then take 20% off of that and make a offer...you know the history better than them..but maybe as a overall, pricing they took the deal..and maybe you branch was doing better, with you...but the region made a money decision.

The Safelite commercials have been in Virginia for several months now. I have found it has been a benefit to me. It has brought awareness and has educated the public that there are alternatives to replacement. I consider this free advertising for me. It has not hurt me at all.

The online price isnt what they charge Did a repair last week for a guy with a reciept for $39.95 from a couple weeks ago online price here is 89.95

But to the subject of the thread the adverts do a lot of good spreading the word and there are a lot of crumbs that fall for others to pick up

Just wanted to let you guys know that none of you all really get it about Safelite/Belron. You guys are all complaining about the safelite's advertising and selling and all this other junk. The real thing is this. Your insurance company's is the real ones at fault. See I am sure you guys have heard of saflite solutions which is the thrid party company that handles the glass claims for the insurance companys. If you see the first part of the name is Safelite. Second part is solution. The way it works is that when an insurer say with Nationwide calls in and says they need there windshield repaired it goes directly to Safelite solutions, then they foward the information to Safelite Auto Glass which is Safelite solutions. The way to fix this problem is stop the steering. And the best way to do this is get every independent Auto Glass company to sign a partition and take it in front of congress and let them know what is going on with the insurance company's. Because last I knew steering was illegal. The best way to do this maybe is get the IGA to help out. Your going to have to have some kind of organisation get together and head it up. Safelite really don't have to advertise or sell they already have????

First its perfectly legal for a company to contract with another to service thier customers its only Steering when they are with you or request you and then get moved thats not allowed good luck trying to prove it when it happens. I think the adverts are great they familiarize folks with repair who didnt really understand it and when people ask me I tell them that they are the Wallmart of my industry and the experienced highly trained guy like myself is better and often lower priced. There is plenty of buisness out there on a side note I know they charge 69 bucks for the first break here and wont fix anything on the drivers side of the glass
