There is times when I tell people not to turn it into their insurance. If they alreayd have a few claims over the course of the last year, then I do not recommend they turn it in. All it really takes guys is a little common sense.
Think of it this way. Insurance companies aren't stupid, they aren't going to pay for something, or offer something for Free if it wasn't in their best intests. Its a no brainer for them. Just stop and think about that for a second.

If I am talking to someone and he tells me that he has tons of claims on his insurance then yes, even a repair can effect it, but if someone only has a claim or two then no, it won't affect them.
