I thought in past posts, most of your work was doing paint chip repair. What happened there? Market dry up?
Hurt my Back about a year ago sitting on the rolling stool for an hour would lay me up for several days so when I moved I went back to just WR and Headlights
I picked up a few carlots and fleets do them one day a week and Cold Call the rest. Still have the Back problem so when it gets sore I take the rest of the day off. Havnt worked a 5 hr day in a year 6 repairs a day average

D2D wrote:GlassStarz, that's great! You should be averaging 10 repairs a day. I base that on my average contact rate of 20 people that you can talk to in a 6 hour day, (2.5) per hour) that have chips and "close" the sale.
Can you share here on the forum what your sales closing strategy is? What do you say in your pitch?
I like the small industrial parks pretty easy to find the vehicle owner when there are about 10 cars out front. The pitch is pretty simple Im working around the corner and have some time till my next apoint noticed your chip normaly I leave a card but yours looked like it was 1 big pothole from breaking so I looked for you. Since im in the area already will fix it for $45 instead of the normal $65
I change things a little depending on the customers reaction also once you do one in the complex it gets even easier just something like
Im almost finished with Bob next doors car and noticed yours also has a pretty good chip since im here already will give you a killer deal if I fix it now
If you do it right you should land several this way some days I get 6 to 8 within eyesite of each other using several bridges you can do 3 or 4 at a time make you $200 BUCKS BY NOON AND GO TO THE BEACH

Thank you, 'Starz!
Fresno is a ways inland from the beach. If you take off at noon you could make it in time for some surfin' and sunnin'. We've had some serious winter weather here in Colorado so I'm jealous.

Do you do insurance work? Just curious because you would have to juggle making the network calls along with all those bridges. I've never been good at multi-tasking. I prefer to handle one customer and one vehicle at a time, especially if it's insurance.

A while back a very nice guy named Jason, who goes by the screenname "frogknowledge" posted some good information about how he approaches people doing door to door residential. I'll look for it and pull it forward.

Anyway, your "pitch" is similiar to Coitster's. Did you ever train with him?

FrogKnowledge wrote this pitch for door to door residential sales. Notice how he gains rapport with the prospect before taking control and walking over to the car.

The sales pitch:

Hi my name is Jason am with *** Glass Co. We are the guys that offer the on site free rock chip and crack repair for your windshield.

You: I am in your area today offering complementary inspections on your windshield, do you just have these 2 vehicles here?
(never talk about their rock chip at the door always look at the car)
Policy Owner: Uh yea just those 2
(As you walk over to the car)
You: Great, so how about this weather?
Policy Owner: Yea cold lately, You poor guys have to work in this every day
You: Yes but I love what I do, Sir did you notice this impact point here?
Policy Owner: NO or Yes
You: This is what we call a Star Break, see how it has 4 little legs growing off of it, this one is getting ready to crack, have you ever had a windshield repair before?
Policy Owner: (Option 1) Yes I have
You: Then you know how important it is to get this repaired today
Policy Owner: (Option 2) No I have not had a chip before
You: WOW you have been one of the lucky ones, huh, Who do you carry for your insurance policy?
Policy Owner: DUHduh Company
You: That's great! you know they are one of the best insurance providers, they will actually pay for this repair 100%, since it is such a safety issue.

Do you have your insurance card I need to call them and let them know who I am and register my shop with them then they are going to ask you a few question like when did it happen and how. It should only take a few minutes.

This is just the basics but you CAN NOT talk to them about the rock chip or crack at the door step, their is no sense of safety or urgency at the door, their thinking about whatever you just interrupted them from.

Also by offering the complementary inspection 1 in 3 of my repair did not even know they had a chip so NEVER ask do you have a rock chip assume they do and look at the window.

Not that I care, but this posting has gone south. D2D you should have run this on your own posting so we can follow it by a better title line...

Wonder if the moderators may shuffle the Off Topic's to their own title posting " Going door to door " or "Sales pitches that may work"

Just a thought.......

I copied and pasted that last post into "FFA Sales Call Structure".

I agree this thread has turned into "a long and winding road". Very different from the beginning.

That comment alone could be a thread all by its self if you might be talking about a younger life you may have had.
