Car Wash/Jiffy Lube?

I talked to a guy on the west coast when I first started doing this who has a tech at a couple car washes and jiffy lubes anyone have any idea of what kind of deal to propose to the lube or wash guys to let you set up there? I thank eveyone who replied or sent mail on the photo booth I guess im gonna pass on it and look elsewhere. My thinking on the wash or lube is work the location myself until its running smothly then place another tech into it and open another. any ideas?

What I would do is go to all the lube shops and car washes in your area and offer each employee a 5.00 reward for calling you. This turns into a sales force for you and you only pay when get work. Keep in mind most people at these locations get paid poorly, so an extra 5 spot means something to them. Take a little time to educate them on what to look for and what is repairable. Wait for the phone to ring and after a while you will get to know where to hang out. I used this method in my paint touchup business and it worked pretty well for me.

Carwash programs can work well. As long as the owner doesn't put you under the buse after 6 months. This happened to me last year cause everything was worked out with a handshake. After 6 months he became greety and decided to buy a kit and do repairs himself. Needless to say his repairs didn't go all that well and he called me to come back. "NOT" I'll only be screwed once by someone!
I also approached Jiffy Lube. Unfortunetly only to find out they already had a contract with Safelite glass for repairs and replacement referels. Could be different in your area...I'd give it a shot!

Like what was said earlier be careful I know a guy here that had a great deal with jiffy lube so he thought, it turned out to be a training school that he actually had to pay them?? Then pop went his bubble the local jiffy lube owner set his son up in glass repair business O yes of course his son was trained well by the other guy you know the rest of the story. I would recommend the same give a $5.00 cash refereal fee to the employees I do this in a lot of service departments they love it when I come in with there lunch money. I always have $5.00 bills handy

my thinking on the place givin ya the boot and going at it themselves is yea it sucks but if the place has all the overhead and the let me come in for awhile and make a bucket load of cash off thier customers I guess I have to move to another spot it sucks but short of you buying thier buisness from them I dont know what else we can do. I guess the old adage applies farts and cigars only smell bad if they arnt yours.
I have had 3 meetings with a local guy with a high volume car wash(average 200 per day of course thats 300+ on summer days and less than a hundred when its cold)He has the most expensive one in town and all the work he can handle hoping I get him to let me try for a couple weeks to show him the potential. is %20 to much to give him? He also spends between $500&$1000 per month doing the chips on his fleet cars for his other buisness with a competitor maybe I can work into that as well? Either way its -8deg as I write this and im cranky anyone need help somewhere warm?

20% sounds about right. I usually offer $5 for cash repairs and $10 for all insurance repairs. A question though? Is he going to let you set up repairs in one of his heated bays or expect you to do them outside? Also about his fleet account? Are you sure he's paying $500-$1000 a month in chip repairs and not just pulling your leg? Sounds like it would have to be an awfully large fleet!
Being in Michigan I know how you feel this time of year! I'll drive 100-150 miles a day just to make $100. On days when I do $200 I feel blessed. Hang in there buddy and just think about spring! You'll have more then enough work to keep you happy

He must because today we cut a deal for a trial period I give hime 10% and also maintain the rental fleet gratis. I do get a bay to work in but as bad as the weather was in dec his records show his worst day was 120 cars though im thinking 5 retail repairs a day and im happy guess we will see how it works out'

So far it sounds like a good arrangement. Hope this goes well for you! Don't forget to use those sticky's that cover the damaged area before the car gets blasted by high pressure water. Might also consider printing up $5.00 referal coupons to hand out. Let us know how things are going down the line.
