What are your hobbies?

Post by rowdy13 »

Thought I would start a thread about hobbies (other than windshield repair). I like riding motorcycles. I have a 2006 Big Dog K-9, which is a chopper. I also carve wooden eggs, yes you heard right, I carve faces out of wooden eggs. I also went through a phase of making wine. (and no, I'm not gay). I also have a metal detector, which I've only used once. Brent, in another forum I belong to, its a Big Dog owner group, we can go to Photobucket.com and download our pictures there, and then put them on the posts. Can we do that here? I would love to see pictures of everyone's hobbies. Take care everyone.

I ride a BMW but not often enough, first time we used our metal detector we found a bomb in the back garden and had to have the bomb disposal team down, they told us it had fallen out of a Lancaster during the war, we used to have a base in the Village that they flew out of. I seem to be spending a lot of time on DIY not that I would call it a hobby, built a new house last year and this year I am adding sheds etc. It is what my wife calls making sawdust, I prefer to call it carpentry. Tried the wine idea, all I seemed to make was bottled hangover.

I've been to Lawton many, many times. Crime wise, its a pretty rough town because of the military base there, but I love to go to Mt. Scott (I think thats the name of it) and look around. As far as the wine making, I made about 80 bottles of it a couple of years ago. I really dont like wine, but I give them out as gifts to people. I personalize a wine label to the person I'm giving it to. My goal is to sell my house, and build a house on a couple of acres. When I was younger, I wanted a million acres. Now that I'm 52, a couple would be great. I would love to learn how to build a house. You save a ton of money building your own. Screenman, finding a bomb in your garden would scare the heck out of me. I think that would be my last treasure hunt! I love BMW motorcycles. If I were going to do long travels, getting a BMW would be first on my list to get. I'm thinking of taking one of those overseas motorcycle trip packages, and most of them have the BMW's. Forgot to mention one of my hobbies. I enjoy playing the guitar and banjo. I have several guitars and several amps, but my windshield repair venture has taken most of my guitar playing time.

I was deep in clay target sports, Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays.Over 20,000 rounds a year for almost 20 years. ..........

Played steel tip darts in the bars and tourn.'s for 20 years also. 4 nights a week.
My aim on both games got worst as age started to catch up to my joints..

I figured I better get all this done before I got to old and could not do it any more with out feeling all the pain in the joints. Glad I did...
Also once I got married that would be gone. Boy, was I right on that one.

Now help take care of the horses and build every thing and anything that need to be build out here. I call my self the ranch hand.

I weld for a hobby now. I weld what needs to be made or fixed. I love my Miller toys.
I make most everything I need. I look a something and go home and make it.

Making beer is next on my list.

My hobby (and one of my businesses) is currency trading. It is like trading in the stock market but you are trading different currency pairs ( US Dollar vs. Euro Dollar). I started this venture about 8 years ago soon after I started W/S repair. Having my own W/S repair business allows me the time and flexibilty to trade. Sometimes I am up at 3:00 AM to catch the opening of the London market. It is the hardest thing I have ever tried to do in life but I love the challenge. The trading keeps my mind sharp and the W/S business keeps me out in the public meeting and working with new people everyday.
