i have a wholesler that has the window itself and its half the price then the one thats incapsulated. that would be the only way i can make any money off of this job. this customer says he as another company that can do for thae same price i get the incapsulated one. is it worth the trouble?

Never heard of this window without the encapsulation so I doubt you are going to find any recommendations on any other option.

Use gold 105b(5/8). Miter the corners and run a small bead of urethane on the glass & molding on the inside. Use a 3/8 V bead to install. A lot of off shore manufacturers are selling nonencapsalated glass. Just try to make it look the best you can and explain to your customer what you are doing.HTH

I have replaced glass since I was 12 years old! my father owned/ran a full service glass shop before did.

ask yourself this, would you put this sh*# on your own truck? wrap up the 8316 and then compare it to a 'real' 8316 with encapsulation, it will not even be close. and as far a molding choices go, gold's molding line has got to be the cheapest crap out there. I have used them all 105, 107, 109 ect.

how much cheaper could the non encapsulated part be?? I have never even seen one that way, do you also buy dw1217s non encapsulated and wrap them with moldings too??

This is what the repalcement business has come to?

My vote would be that it just isn't worth it. What will you do if something would happen to the vehicle while you are working on it? You will be buried in the job. What if you do it and the customer is not happy? For what sounds to be such a small margin (if any profit after materials, labor, etc.), and then a lesser quality part that might not meet the customers standards, I would turn the other way and concentrate my time on getting that next profitable job in the door.

Just my 2 cents.

P.S. Have to say I didn't even know these were out there so thanks for the heads up!
