Intact removal of back glass

Post by A2thy »

I have a '97 Civic CX Hatchback and the back glass is held on with adhesive, I was wondering if anyone here knows a good way to remove the back glass from one vehicle without damaging it and installing it on another. Any idea on special tools or adhesives and helpful tips for the process would be great. Thanks.

You will need special tools, special adhesives AND special knowledge. Do yourself a favor and have it done by some one that replaces auto glass professionally!!
Or buy the whole hatch and swap out the complete hatch, and have it painted.

Thank you, I appreciate your advice streekyd. The problem is my hatch was damaged from an accident; however the glass is still good. I was able to get my hands on a new hatch but it doesn't have any glass in it. New glass or a hatch with glass is far more than what I'm willing to spend. I asked a glass company, and they told me they don't do intact removals. So I guess my question is, "Is there anyway around paying a high price for new glass?"

I'm from south central GA, but the new hatch is at my father's house in the Tampa area about 4 hours away from here. So I'd like to get it done there if possible.
