My personal findings into Suction cup Glyde.

In the begining i never really thought much on the best possible Suction Cup glyde. I thought it was alright using Vaseline till this issue came out. I've got to admit when looking closer at the suction cup of my crack repair bridge, they were showing signs of deterioating nature.

I like the thought of using Coconut Lotion as they are in abundance here. They really are quite cheap and could cost for as low two cents per application. It's disadvantage is because its thin, runs and could very easily crept into those cracks, a chance i am not willing to take.

Corn huskers lotion or ultrasonic gel, I was unsucessful in locating.

The suggestion of using LIp Balm was great. Almost similar to the properties of vaseline when applied to the windshield except:

- it does'nt run under the hot sun
- you have this nice coat of thin layer when applied onto the glass which unlike vaseline was much more messy.
- One Lip Balm here would cost around 5 - 6 Fijian Dollars. Could possibily do up to 15 repairs on single line cracks Averaging 10 -15" long. This would mean an application would cost around 33 to 40 cents which is o.k for me.I have been going with Lip Balm for now.

STARQWEST, I always make sure that it remains in my tool kit so that neither my wife or girl friends could make the mistake of using it.

why would one need suction glide at all? talk about wasting time and money I use the same spray window cleaner im cleaning the area with and you dont get a bunch of slop on the windshield and it doesnt affect the suction cup long term.

I got two old N- bridges along with the purchase of my business last summer. Both bridges had suction cups that are in good condition. Valsoline had been used on them since the mid-80's doing over 1000 repairs each year since... they have not yet started breaking down...

I do love the Corn huskers water-soluble aspect though, it would be nice to have less smear when I wipe clean the windshield after the repair. I am going to try it! (Yes, I scrape excess off with my razor blade):eusa_whis

been using vaseline for years and clean my suction cups when I clean my enjectors.

Try hair gel. It's cheap, you can buy it anywhere in a big bottle, and it's water soluble!

For fixing chips I just wet my suction cup with my glass cleaner. If I have to move the injector for long crack repair I use vasaline. Absolutly don't use glass cleaner for lube because it dries and when you move the injector you will flex the crack and thats when air bubbles come into it.
