What types of advertising medium is most used by WSR? Yellow Pages, Mailings, Flyers, Newspaper Ads etc.

Welcome fasbreak :D I spent $200.00 on vehicle graphics/lettering and got enough calls within 2 weeks to cover the cost. Gets my name out there to other drivers who may be looking at my truck through a chipped windshield. 8) I ask every customer how they found out about my business and keep records to track what works. You'll find that different things may work in different areas of the country. My advice- start small, keep your costs down and find out what works best for you. Yellow page ads can be pricey- Ad salesmen will promise you the moon  Have a professional image- do quality work- and you'll be surprised what comes in without cold calling.

Thanks, Paintless thats what I suspected from reading other posts. Do you use Magnets? I find them Just about the same price as lettering up my truck.

I found that vinyl lettering was about the same price as magnets -I went with vinyl lettering as I don't mind always driving a rolling billboard and I like the look. I went with a FREE windshield repair text on the box sides of my pickup similar to the delta banner. It's a real attention getter. Some of my calls have been from fellow motorists who see the truck signage and call right then on their cell phones. I'll post some photos as soon as I can get my kids to show me how.  By the way vinyl comes off with a water /alcohol mixture- your thumb nail- a heat gun- and alot of patience should you change your mind but I feel its worth it for the permanent look.

Does anybody else use anything other than your vehicle or tent for advertising?

Good posts guys, Fasbreak you will find that being new in the field you are definetly going to want to keep your costs down. Vehicle lettering is great, I recommend it, I also recommend getting out there and learning to sell the windshield repair. You can go broke if you go out and try to buy tons of advertising, most people need to be explained to about why windshield repair is free. That is if you are doing insurance work.

My wife drove my truck to the dentist office yesterday morning, and when she came back to the truck there was a note attached to the window by a lady who works at the office next door. She wanted her W/S repaired. My wife called me with the info, I called the lady and will do the repair this morning. This happens often and one call will pay for the magnets.

I too am new and I am currently setting up my business. I am having magnets made and the shop doing it is charging me $55.00 for 2. I figured that was cheap enough for a little advertisment.

Just a footnote about the repair that my magnetic sign netted me when my wife had my truck at the dentist office. I just got back from doing the repair and ended up doing two others while I was there.Netted $155 in less than an hour. Paid for the signs three times over!
Btw, while I was at this office complex, there was a guy doing mobile oil changing, and another guy there doing mobile car washing... Service business is Great!
