A couple network questions...

So a Couple things I have run into being new...learning curve can be a b#%@ch!
1. If I have a customer thats say with Farm Bureau and I know they use the SGC network, can I just call SGC directly and not the 800 claims number on the insurance card just to end up getting transferred?
2. Why wont the network ask me all the questions regarding policy numbers, make of vehicle ect ect? They tend to keep my customer on the phone for 10+ minutes asking them questions I could have simply gave them the answers too. Then they can just verify the customer, damage and time of damage.
(So what Im wanting to know is whats the most efficient way to handle the call with the network?)
3. Doing repairs after the network is closed. I had a repair yesterday at 8pm mountain time and tried to call SGC but they were closed. How would have you guys handled this?
Thanks for the help...Im learning alot but certainly could use some advice.
