Hey guys,
Quick question... When scouting dealerships and fleet accounts, what is your reply when they say the old "well I have another guy who comes around on (enter any day of week)"? All that I can think of is to sell my reliability, and workmanship. Then I give them a few business cards and tell them to give me a ring when they need a repair. I want to represent myself in the most professional manner, but also want to gain a repetative customer. What are your plans of attack when they bring up "The Other Guy"??

Don't quit going by if you want the account.I am not saying every week but maybe every three months.Try to make some small talk and develope something that you have in common and can relate too. When the other guys quits coming around you will be in his mind.It is all about relationship and trust in this business!

The trouble is, I am the "Other Guy". I had two of my dealers, just last week, give me the cards to companies looking to work for the dealerships I've serviced for the last 10 years. We all have a good laugh and throw the cards away.
The gist is....try to find a dealer who is looking for a good W/S repair guy. My dealers have a good guy!!

Just keep stopping in after 20 plus years in the car sales buisness I learned sales managers are a short lived sort. You best chance is when a new one shows up. They want to do things different than the other guy who obviosly didnt do things well or he would still be there. Also when you get in with one be sure to follow him to his next spot as well.
