How does Safelite get away with it?

Hey Guys,
I did a two chip repair yesterday on a 1999 Mercedes. The owner told me he had just went to the local Safelite storefront and they told him he should replace the windshield instead f having the chips repaired.
The chips were nowhere near the driver's line of sight and were just a simple bullseye and batwing chips. I gladly repaired his windshield for a cash job due to the fact that he had AAA insurance.
How does Safelite keep a good reputation when Im sure they try to do this to customers several times a day....it's criminal in my opinion!
