So for years I have been getting gas on my way home from work at the same place and will clean my windshield when needed. I always thought the cleaner worked quite well for a dirty water solutuion! This past week afer I cleaned my windshield one day, I saw what they used. The attendant refilled the container with a mixture of water and Pine Sol. Yes Pine Sol. I drive approx 70 miles one way so I pick up a lot of bugs. Not sure if it good for vehicle paints but I have never had a problem and this stuff works quite well.

Interesting! How do the resins hold up to the vinegar and other chemicals after a newly completed repair?

Squeegee with plain water works best and is the safest. You could also use diluted soap solution in water, but it shouldnt be too much or else it leaves streaks of soap on the glass. I Keep a squeegee and water spray in my car and clean the windshield myself when i go on long drives and this works well for me. Though i personally admire the way the gas station guys clean the glass. They are super quick and efficient, though i never paid attention to what they use.

I was a full service guy for 10 years . A small amount of ammonia mixed with water is what we used, we called it "Tiger Pee". I still use it.
I know -The your not supposed to use ammonia on glass people will chime in now - I'll continue to use it anyway !

We use huck towels(www.towelpros.com), and a waterless car wash solution(freedom, croftgate ect), streak free, less effort, no waste.

Steel Wool (fine). Steel wool has different grades. It takes the hard water spots off, bugs and all other goo without scratching. Use old sock with rainX. Put on in circular motion. 2 coats. Use wet (water) towel to take off rainX glare/streaks and your like new again unless its sand pitted of coarse. :D
