Painted Tail Lights

I have a customer that has a unique problem. He purchased a 2010 Toyota customized Truck. The tail lights are painted over with the same color as the truck body. The rear lights shine through the paint when the lights are on or he brakes. The customer has two options. Replace them at $$$$ or remove the paint. The detailer said if he removed the paint, he would scratch the lens badly. I have sanded painted HL's with good results but never a completely covered lens. Has anyone on here ever removed paint from a set of Tail lights? These lights have some curves an the design is not a smooth lens. I used a lot of pads on the last set of HL's and they were only painted half way down. My next deliema is how much to charge for something like that. Even the rubber around tha lights are painted. Any suggestions?

Glazed or faded lenses can be restored in the same manner as headlight lenses. The solution in this case is to replace the lenses which should also come with nice clean rubber gaskets. Call Certifit in Charlotte and price out replacement lenses. Mark them up, add a fair price for labor, and call it a day.
