Customer getting paid question

Until I get registered with the networks, I was hoping someone could explain in more detail on how I can get my customers paid back by their insurance for a repair. Do I have the customers’ just mail in or fax their copy of the invoice to their agent for a refund? Any more information pertaining this would surely be appreciated. If it matters, I’m in TX.

yeah, they can take their receipt to their agent or mail, fax, etc to them. They will get a check in the mail reimbursing them.

You also may find that it can vary from carrier to carrier. I recently did a job for a State Farm insured and they reimbursed the customer. I did another for a Liberty Mutual customer and the insurance company required me to bill them and be registered with SGC before they would pay me.

You are an independent, Not an in network shop. They can not make you sign up with them just so you can get paid....

I hear what you're saying, but the lady at Liberty said I needed to be added to the network and fill out a W-9 in order to get paid. The phone number she gave me for follow up was, you guessed it...SGC.

They just want your info so they can 1099 you.

I'm pretty sure all of the networks will require you to fill out a w-9 in order to bill them. If you charge your customer on a cash deal, they can submit the invoice to their insurer themselves in order to get payment. I would recommend that if you don't want to deal with the networks then direct your customer to their agent and allow them to help them submit the claim. Personally, I would recommend doing what is required of the networks as their prices are generally going to be a little better than your cash prices. And if the consumer is intent on allowing them to pay for it, this is the most convenient method for your customer and potentially more profitable for you. Good luck!
