Have you ever run a
promotion to offer free windshield chip repairs to your customers? Maybe it’s a BOGO (buy one, get one) promotion or a free first repair during a defined time period. Some successful windshield repair companies have run this type of promotion on an annual basis to provide consumer awareness about the services they offer. Good or bad, what are your experiences or thoughts on this type of promotion? We'll feature your input in a future edition of The Wisecrack newsletter. (If you haven't already, be sure to

I have recently started in full time WSR on the South Coast here in the UK.
When I visit the main dealerships, I offer a free repair [there and then, on the spot] to show what I can do.
It hasn't worked everytime but I have gained two accounts using this method. [and i've only been trading a few weeks!]

I have a new car dealership that is including a certificate for a free rock chip repair with every new car sold. The certificate has the dealers name on it and a space for the salesman to fill in the year and model so no one tries to use it on some other (less valuable) vehicle. I've only had this promotion going on for about 3 weeks and none of the certificates have been redeemed yet but I figure this is a great type of customer to target.

In general, freebie promotions don't generate worthwhile additional business. Unless you just like giving away your time and effort don't mees with it.
