Guys are any of you familiar with Ding King.I have been talking with them about some add on skills that I could possibly generate some extra cash.Mainly odor remover and upholstry.I work for one of the largest rental companies in the country and I think I could get some of this from them.Any input would be appreciated.

From what I hear they are very much a training mill, that said as long as you practice hard the few skills they give you then success is up to you. Personally I would rather sell another windshield repair than mess around trying to get color correct or the right texture.

Instead of learning new skills which may not get you much more money why not try and find a quality sales and marketing course.

I have been involved with interior repair since 1992 and have seen a huge decline in demand for it over here, as for odor removal I am yet to find a system that is 100% in fact many are way off that mark.

You have the tools in that WSR box to earn a lot of money 7 days a week, if you have time to do other things you are not doing enough selling. I know that sounds harsh but the truth is always better than a lie.

I have to agree with Screenman. After providing many years in both interior and exterior cleaning using many different products I can attest that many of these products didn't work at all. Many times we had to completely remove and replace carpet and insulation in vehicles to resolve a problem. What appeared to be a profitable service, many times was not.

I have one rental lot with 1200 cars yes 1200 cars sreenman.I have plenty of w/s work but while I am doing a w/s repair I could as well be running an ozone generator or fogging cars with odors.I have 14 branches that get cars smoke out all the time.These are not like used cars where it is a pain in the butt to get the smoke smell to dissapear.I was trying to kill two birds with one stone persay!Not really dissagreeing with you screenman because there is plenty of work out there in the w/s repair business but you kind of see where I am going with this.If I am there I should go ahead and pick up another 50 dollars.

You sound sold on the idea. Give it a go and see how it works out.

I guess the big question is how much your rentals will compensate you for taking this on? I've seen some rentals that pay very little for this service but in other areas they pay very well. Only you can decide if it's going to be profitable and nobody else on this forum could honestly answer your question (unless they work in your area) Good luck to you anyway and hope it all works out.

PM me and I can help you with smoke odor removal. Its not rocket science. You just have to use the right equipment and products. I can tell you exactly what you will need.
Interior repair is not as simple. There are several options for training and supplies. Ding King certainly would not have been the first option to come to mind. SEM makes their own products, so you're not paying a markup for someone else to slap their name on and redistribute. They also have excellent training and are a phone call away if you need any help. Superior, out of California, also handles a full line of products and dyes as well as having training available. Refinish Coatings makes arguably the best dyes, but you don't need that level of product for rental cars. I started using Superior 5 years ago, then switched to SEM primarily from Vinyl Pro, though several other vendors carry it as well.

Another thing came to mind in my sleep, that of all eggs in one basket. You should never have more than 10% of your business coming from any one customer, JMHO. There will be people knocking on that customers door often trying to take the work off of you, be prepared at all times.

Screenman something come to me last nite in my sleep and it was dont leave money sitting at the table.I respect your opinion very much because like you I have been doing this for a while.My rental is about 70% of my business.I prefer kissing babies and shaking hands and doing insurance work that is where the money is.
