Autoglass UK making redundancies

Reported in one of the national papers today that Autoglass (Belron) UK are making 400 staff redundant out of a total staff of 3,000 ( 13.3% ). One of the main reasons they are quoting, apart from seasonal effect, is the high cost of fuel in the UK ( Av price £6.38 per gallon/$10.2 ). Which means private motorists are cutting down on journeys and driving at a slower speed to get better m.p.g.. Year on year, glass replacements are down 11%. It did not mention glass repair turnover. My own experience locally, is that car dealers have hit lean times and have slashed prices to try and move their stock. Good time to buy a car, but not if your business relies on car turnover. Looks like more tough times ahead.

We haven't reached the bottom (yet).
Do not, never, trust politicians and bankers, they want you to believe that all is well. It is not.
We're heading to a double dip.
