My insurance is through Farm Bureau and is $178.00 per year. This is an excellent price. I am in Oklahoma. I am sure it will be about the same in Texas.

TXFirefighter,
One recommendation would be RLI...
Here is a thread that business insurance was discussed:

Keith I've got the above insurance that Jeff noted. I bought it through my Allstate agent who was the only company I found that writes for RLI in Texas. You have to mention the Northeast companies, because they rarely write this type of coverage. I think my premium is $225.00 per year. Hope this helps.

A tent is a great way to get started, if only to give you experience in dealing face to face with people. Make sure it looks good and as importantly make sure you put it in the right place. You need to try and get into a mall where there are plenty of vehicles.
Although Tents are great, if done right, dont underestimate cold calling. Get your sales pitch (what you say) fine tuned and it can be fantatic. And you arent paying to pitch a tent.
Read Coitser's post on selling. He is really good, Maybe not quite as good as me

but good enough to be considered brilliant. We should make this WSR selling an olympic sport!. Seriously though, the guys a genius, but I would imagine if my experience is anything to go by. The key word is "confidence". I can honestly say that when I cold call a customer, I 100% expect to get the work and am surprised if rejected. If rejected, I am very polite, because quite often I will do the neighbours screen and the customer will then come out and have theirs done.
Members of this forum are probably bored about me droning on about "IMAGE". This is also very important. Very, Very, Very important. Look Good, be confident (it will come) and always do the best repair that you can, and put a guarantee on it too. And you should succeed. Have you decided your company name yet?. If not, get a good one, good logo, look corporate, stand out from your competitors.
And lastly do what I do. Consider this forum your bible, and its members your advisors. How ever long you do in the business, you are always learning. Good luck, good health and Good repairing.
