Pricing

Just wondering what the average price grid looks like for this business.

I've been doing glass replacement for about nine years through my dealership (Mercedes Benz). Recently I started playing around with repair and am trying to get the ball rolling on my own side business.

-I am wondering what the average price is per repair. Our sublet guy charged $68.00 for the first repair and 20 for any additional.

-we are currently charging $60.00 per crack and $30.00 for any additional.

What can I expect to charge insurance companies per repair? Thanks in advance......

Every insurance company sets their own pricing, but the national average is now around $60 + $15 + $15. Cash prices are all over the board, but the most successful technicians that we work with keep their cash prices close to their insurance prices. This board has been a bit slow for the past few days, but I'm sure others will chime in on this one within a day or two.

Ditto to what Brent told you. What's your home town, because I'm moving there! $68 from a dealer is a great price for a repair. Is it because it's a Mercedes dealer?

Up here in my region(ND), the most I get paid from an insurance company is $70+10+10, but that's only one company. Most of my Lynx stuff is $50+10+10 which there isn't much of since State Farm quit paying. Safelite has gone mostly to flat rates-usually $55 or $65(I'm curious of what others think about flat rates). Other non-network ins. I usually charge $50+15+15.

We have learned (last Saturday) that Safelite charges $80 for a single repair (Michigan). It was confirmed by a shop manager. Just wondering whether they indeed also do get that (paid) from the insurers/networks. Or are there ''differences'' in the way businesses are being paid out for the work they've done? I mean....$80 sounds great to many of us here on this board, in fact most would dream of that rate right?

if a bodyshop paid safelite $80 for the repair, if you did work for them, expect about $60 in return. im sure they keep a finders fee. thats fine with me though, i'd love to get on their network.

Is the $60 national average for repairs through the insurance companies for repairing cracks and chips? Or just cracks? IS there a difference for what they pay to repair cracks vs. chips and bullseye like repairs ect.?
Thanks

Man, I read all Over this board people getting 50 -60 dollars or more per chip I am in Utah Provo Orem area and we have to fight to get $20 per windshield unless it is an insurance job. Just my 2 cents.

Utah probably has the lowest average charge per repair of any place in the country. Not sure why, but everyone seems to be willing to give their service away there. Still, we have several customers who seem to do quite well, but they are typically pretty guarded about how they do it. There is a lot of insurance work from what I understand.
