How many of you knew about windshield repair before you thought of entering the business? How many actually had your windshield repaired? I am constantly amazed at the number of people who have no idea they can actually have their windshield repaired, and get quality work. If you took your car to a body shop and got a subpar paint job, would you write of body shops all together or would you look for a quality body shop? From my experience the large glass compnies(Diamond,Safelite,Harmon, Etc...) don't even take wsr seriously. I was performing a repair for a dealer a couple of weeks ago and the glass installer who was also on the lot doing work came over and asked what kind of equipment I used. I was int middle of placing the bridge on a star so I told him I would show him in just a sec. He then proceeded to start ranting about the junky equipment they had for repairs. As he described the equipment I thought "now he is really ticking me off, he is virtually describing my equipment". So I just told him it wasn't the eqipment it must be "operator error". We went about our business for a few minutes and he again came over to see how the repair was coming. He was amazed at what I had done with tools so similar to the "junk" his company had. I then explained my repair process to him, and he explained how he had been trained to perform repairs(very similar to the % minute repairs I have seen paeople post about). Sorry about the rant. It's just a shame for the industry that we haven't figured out a way yet to educate the general public. Until I figure out a better way I'll just keep teaching them one at a time. I was just reading the posts asking for Brian's direct billing letter and I was thinking "don't hate the player".
