For those that might be interested...This month Radio Shack has their IR Thermometer on sale for $30. I bought one about a month ago(I'm kicking self for paying $49). It seems to work well. You can always buy and try it and if not satisfied return it, since Radio Shack is on practically every street corner.Sorry Jeff..its competition for yours...BUT...if we can all save a buck.

Clay,
I personally use a Raytek MT4. As long as you have a thermometer that will read the surface temp. of glass then it does not matter what brand you buy.
I usually try to keep the glass right at around 70deg. I will warm the glass a little when needed depending on the break. I feel that this is a good temp to keep the break stabilized as best as possible for manipulation.
Look through the old posts and you will see some good info on this.
Pay it foward,
Brian
