Interesting read. I sit on the edge about entering this business and see, clearly, now may not be a good time.
There are simple solutions to simple problems.

Philr: Are you talking about the original intro as posted by Mike Boyle? For your conveniece I quote:

''There are several threats that face us as an industry, we will address them head on. With your help and support, we can revitalize our profession by making it a profession. As technicians in the field have to support change, the equipment mfg's need to be on the same page regardless of their own passions. We are all in this together. I would like to invite all of you to submit your ideas and concerns that we can address, the NWRA needs your participation.''

I am a firm believer of at least addressing any problems and threats in our industry, be you a small or large vendor, it does not matter. We are all in the same boat and problems needs to be discussed and resolved right? Mike Boyle was right to start this discussion, in fact; it is his duty as the president to step up the plate and be communicating with the technicians here on this forum, be the readers NWRA members or not.

The above should never be a reason to put you off, if you like this business, like many others do, you should start without any doubt.
I do not want to be offensive here, but could you name me one, just one, industry that is not, never, facing any problems or threats?

Good question. In honest reply, no, I can not.

But, insurance companies in my current line of work hardly steer potential clients away from me. (carpet cleaning)

And, based solely on what I read and filtered through my ignorant eyes, I see a dispute that has potential of devastating results for the wsr industry.
Again, I stress 'filtered through my ignorant eyes'.

On one hand the industry has a typical Org but has recently been turned over to a guy with what many claim to be business issues. (I read that elsewhere too)

Yet, this very Org seems to be rather impotent without the numbers but the ones (you all) who would be the numbers have issue with the guy running the Org.

I truly have no dog in the fight nor should I be involved with the dialog since, I am at the disadvantage of not really knowing the deeper details.

But, this one thread has given me, a potential customer of Delta and potential service provider for my area, a new series of thoughts to...ponder.

Just a thought whilst insurance customers are being spoken about, I cannot remember the last time I billed an insurance company, all of my large fleet customers do not have glass insurance. Also most private customers seem to prefer to pay me direct once I tell them any claim could affect their future premiums.
