I know the companies Jeremiah does don't do this but I have seen instances where chip guys tell the customer they will fix it, and then while they fix it they call the insurance company and pretend to be the customer. The customer has no idea their insurance was even ever charged. That is one of the reasons insurance companies are being very carefull with those types of companies because of the problems they have had in the past. :(

A couple of insurance companies in my area are now requiring the insured to bring the vehicle into the insurance office before being approved for repair simply because of the "Ambush" business at some of the car wash/ oil change establishments.

That's exactly what some glass shops say about mobile wsr guys...

It's not about where you do repairs. It's about the way you conduct your business. Personally, I have feel there's nothing wrong with advertising "free windshield repair, ask for details." The customer needs to know those details before agreeing, however, since obviously the fact that their insurance company will be billed is information they need to have prior to consent.

Yes.... Jeff you got that right.
Another thing I would like to add here is that for most people that start doing insurance work once you get on the list its an easy issue to do insurance work. But once you get caught pulling a fast one and being dishonest the insurance companies and networks are on hyper alert to the company that did that. They can make your life a living hell, so thats why I don't understand why people think they can mess with the insurance companies and get away with it.

Granted there are always going to be people who just get involved to make a quick buck or think that they can pull one over on the insurance companies... and they may be able to for a short while... but once you get caught again watch out. You are in for some big trouble. Just doesn't make sence to me to bit the hand that feeds you.
