In a state like yours with the highest unemployment people will always take advantage of others its the human condition. when times are tough many will look for ways to make money in anyway they can again who cares? Folks are robbing banks ,cheating insurance companies filing false disability claims and every other thing you can imagine again what do I care? Doctors are caught in fraud does it keep the other MD's from making a living? Mechanics get caught cheating thier customers do people stop getting thier cars fixed? heck the list could have a million examples I refuse to care about it I go to work and hustle up a buck
I go out and do my job I live in a Condo directly on a beach I work 4 days a week I live with a Model half my age (not a cheap hobby lol) life is good. Why? because I spend my time making a living and not whining about others and why I cant make a living. Its easier to say my numbers are down because of someone else but the reality is I make my own destiny in this buisness. I had an old Salesmanager tell me a long time ago I dont want to hear stories about why you failed at a sale but rather the ones where you tell me what you had to overcome to succeed. Dont stress what others are doing just work at success for yourself a possitive attitude will cure all So again who cares? If a few cut corners or commit fraud thats why we have laws to keep those people in check My worrying about it isnt condusive to me making a living

I think Starbrite was simply commenting and releasing his frustrations about a specific company in Michigan that is fraudulently doing business. I do not think he was seeking a pitty party. I live with some frustrastions, but they have nothing to do with competitors. I am one who focuses soley on positive and making things better. Focusing on negativity only brings more frustration. I get the feeling people are hearing him complain rather than heeding the warning that this company (however it operates) is expanding and it may affect you at some time. It is always good to know about these things since it gives everyone the opportunity to educate their customers and potential customers on scams that might be occurring. As I stated in another post, honesty will prevail against this particular company, and things will eventually fall apart for them....I am confident of it ;)

The tax situation varies by state. WSR is almost entirely labor so I believe in most states there is no tax on labor, however you need to check with your state deparment of revenue. You should be able to find out on their website. It probably won't mention WSR itself but look up tax on labor or services and maybe that will point you in the right direction. Hopefully someone in your state will chime in.

Some insurance company's pay up to $70. I Always offer at washes the option. Some customers really do appeal more to cash they feel more comfortable. I work in some higher end markets so cash is easier to come by then someones trust, so i always let them know MOST insurances will happily pay for the repair or if u would feel more comfortable we can do the repair at $50.00 Occasionally i will drop the price a bit depending on how many chips how severe and really how i am doing for the day. Its better to do the deal then not and sometimes it helps to get rolling after you have closed a deal or two. Hope this helps good luck all and good topic!

I do not bother with fleet work or car dealers. Why? They are too cheap, always tring to get a lower price. Flat out I charge 50.00 first chip than 10 for everything after that. If they don't like it I'll walk. I see myself as a professional, I do quality work and nothing less than that. I'm not getting rich but I get enough work from the insurance companies and retail customers to keep me happy. I would rather do the insurance work anyway so I don't have to go chasing people down to get a job out of them. This works better for me, I went from working 60 to 70 hour a week in an engineering job into 4 to 8 hour windshield repair business. Were I get to enjoy the outdoors and meet interesting people all day. I'll never go back into engineering they couldn't pay me enough.

Yup it makes sense to walk away from a stop where once a month you make a couple hundred bucks in 2 hours charging less per than drive all over the place at 50 a pop ( add Headlight repair and pick up an extra 75 per stop). Takes time and gas to drive from place to place in and out of the car all day sure you make more on each repair but factor in the gas time etc do you really? In my opinion having a balance of a few steady fleet and car lots in addition to the better paying singles makes a bigger monthly total with less work. I havnt worked 30 hrs a week in a long time my way works for me
