Nomad I just read your above post from a month ago. Very well put. I don't think I normally would pop a bullseye either, but in certain cases as you have pointed out, it's just the ticket to open things up. I don't think I've tried what you said yet on those weird crescent half moons that are a ways away from the hit point. Think I'll try it on the next one though

I personally haven't found the need to pop a bullseye for years now. I'm not much of driller but when it is needed to open up a tight star or batwing I've found it solves the problem. I believe too many techs these days want to pop everything when it's not really necessary. JMHO!

I use a needle and a small wooden crab mallett (A small wooden hammer looks like it's made from Lincoln Logs) Just insert needle and tap.
