I have done plenty of repairs without a mirrir with no problems. Most times it was due to not having access to the inside of a locked vehicle. However, I do use a magnifying mirror whenever possible as it simply makes the damage easier to see! In some cases with very severe or unusual damages I was glad I had a better perspective due to the use of the mirror.
As for bridges, I prefer a quality one over a cheap one.
