I had an interesting issue come up today on a Jag. I followed the exact steps for the 1:1 mix method and after I applied my uv coating it started to dry in streaks that were light brown or tan in color. It went on perfectly with no bubbles or lines. Has anyone seen this before?

Throw away the can of what ever you are using.I have never seen or even heard the problems you experience with this very simple to use product. What are you mixing in it for your 1-1 mix?? I use the Helmspar Marine grade with UV blockers.Buy only the clear. Not the satin or anything else. When you open the can it will be clear and not brown.Mix it 1 part of the clear to 1 part 100% mineral spirits .I wonder if your problems are do to a proper prep.?? Try mixing it in a dixie cup and stir well with a stick (popcycle) before you apply. This is real simple to use so it must be a bad product or bad prep.Even a bad prep would not turn brown I would not think,.I would get some new clear and go from there or call Dvelup and get their system if you are still having problems.

Ben - Here is what I am using (reading from the can) Helmsman
Indoor/outdoor Spar Urethane clear gloss. It does not mention marine grade on the can. It is also light brown in color in the can. I bought it from Home Depot.

Here are my steps:
Step 1: clean with yellow X
Step 2: Wet (with water)sand starting with 320 - 600 grit depending on the damage.
Step 3: Move up in grits to a finish grit of 2000
Step 4: Buff out the remaining scratches
step 5: Clean with yellow X
Step 6: dry throughly
step 7: apply 1:1 mix using Helmsman indoor - outdoor spar urethane and odor free mineral spirits.
Step 8: let dry

Dude ,it must have been an old can or old stock.Throw it AWAY and spend 12.00 for a new can.
Now tell us exactly how you do a set of headlights and leave out no steps and we will see what is wrong. You seem to be the only person that is having a problem with the sealer so lets look how we can fix the problem.

You might have a problem with your last yellow-x application. You must rinse completely with water and wipe dry. Then clean the lens well with alcohol. Then apply the sealer. Also you dont need to go any finer than 12-1500 as the compound will remove all of the scratchs if any that are left.ONly use an automotive grade fine compound to buff the lens NO POLISHS!!!!!You are mixing the 2 parts together before you wipe right?

I left out the rinse with water after last yellow X. I will start the wiping with alcohol too. Today I used 3M plastic cleaner to buff out the scratches. I mix the 1:1 in a dixie cup and mix well prior to applying with a blue scott paper towel. I can go back and use the Dvelup compound if you think the 3M may be an issue.

the 3m plastic cleaner is probably a factor.Try it with any good compound but do not use anything else.It might be reacting with the clear coating.
