Re: Cash Price Survey

You don't take cash? You send away customers who dont have comprehensive coverage? Wow is all I can think of to say to that. I find that my cash customers are usually not in a position to fork out what ins pays on the spot so I run a price of $50 by them. For that I will fix any damage I find. If they are going to pull away and leave with a busted windshield I tell them I don't want to see them leave the same way they came in and I'll offer a discount. I don't ever do $20 repairs, but I have fixed em for free as an emotional response to someone in need, and obviously unable to afford even a $20 repair.(i.e. elderly, mom's with a car load of screaming banshees in a busted down jallopy, ect.) I have gotten enough refferal biz from that to compensate it. When a windshield cost $200 plus, it's easy to explain the savings. The tire, oil, brakes, and other shops that offer$19.95 here are scams. Untrained with a $199 kit that does a worse job than the do-it-yourself kit from Walmart. The national chain here that charges $20 more than most ins pays is also a scam. The worst repairs I have ever seen on a regular basis. Inflated price to show the customer they might as well spend the extra money for a replacement. The techs there could learn alot of technique from the tire, brakes, oil change shops. In conclusion I would say $50 is a good place to start for basic repair anywhere. $20? that's up to you...It is only a few minutes of "work" and materials are relatively cheap. On the other side it makes people expect $20 repairs from everyone else..so on that alone I think its a terrible idea..personally I like it that a bad day for me is still a couple hundred dollars.
