I think the majority of negativity about windshield repair comes from Chipios. They've scammed so many people, they think we are all like that.

I see, thanks, guys! I told them I don't want the job. I was looking for a MKTG job, and the only MKTG I would be doing is getting people to let me fix their windshield... No shame in that, but if they have false promises for rapid company growth AND rip customers off, I don't want to have anything in my experience labeled by "Chipio".

If you really want to see how lots of customers feel about Chipio go to yelp.com and in the search bar type in their company name. -Doesn't matter which location you search under, they all come back with scathing comments from customers who feel they have been cheated and misled.

I used to work for a marketing company that had a auto glass client last year. It was more the pitch than the fix that they stressed and we did 90% insurance work, after a couple of months i bought my own kit and started repairing chips on my own
because i did some research after a few customers told me it was a scam. It was borderline, Anyway for the past 6 months i've been chippin it up with cash only and am ready to step up my game. Should i get a business license and what other permits might i need? i aalso want to get certified if you have any advice on that it would be helpful.

If you want the right answer then go down to your local chamber of commerce...If you want my answer, a business lic is nothing more then
you signing a piece of paper and paying a fee so the chamber of commerce can sell or give away your name/address to other compaines so
they can call on you to buy their products...in some cases, a business lic maybe required, once I was doing contract work to deliever medical
supplies, in order for me to get paid by the company, they required me to have a business lic so they could show to the IRS they was not
just giving away, writing off stuff that was not a legit write off...normal cases would be for brick and mortar business to have a business
lic...honestly, I would not go get one just to be getting one, up to you, its nothing more then a fee, then expect lots of mail to come
wanting you to buy their products and services, like I said, if you want the right answer, then go ask your local chamber, so in my opinion, unless
insurance providers demand that you have a business lic before they do business with you, then I sure as heck would not dewell on this....

some states may require them, but being in one location, or mobile, i do not see any offical that will harass you, do you have a bus lic?
if surely would be a completely different story if you were a perm brick and mortar, then you would need a business lic/permits for sure...
Avon reps do not need a business lic, they drive around, they sell to the public; This is something I would not lose sleep over...

You need to check with your state, city, and county where your business is located, as well as in the area you plan to work. I am registered with the State of SC (required, no fees), I pay $55/year to the City of Spartanburg (required if you do any work within City Limits), and am also registered in Greenville County (required, but no fee as of yet). Theoretically, any area that has business license requirements in place can warn and/or fine you if they catch you performing work without a required business permit/license. In one sense its simply a money making scheme for local and state governments, but it also functions as a legitimate consumer protection tool. There are plenty of gypsies in every trade and too many "here today/gone tomorrow" crooks. In my opinion, if your desire is to be a professional, then belly up to the bar and do what it takes to be legit.'

Mend Master....I agree with you. Buck up and get your company incoroprated and get the proper insurances you need to do it right and be able to present it right. Too many fly by night companies out there in todays market. Trust me, it pays off on the sales front for your company.
