I use large suction cups. Currently two flip lever plastic toped ones from Harbor Freight. I think they are 2 1/2 inches.
Yes, like a carpenters apron, or an electricians tool belt. You can make it as large as you need it, even sew it yourself or have someone do it for you if you want something special. I fold over the top for strength, then install two grommets and tie the cups on to the grommets with a short piece of cord. If one cup lets go the other will hold it until you can reattach the misbehaving cup.
I use the Husky bucket pouch thing from Home Depot because it has a lot of small pockets for probes, slide hammer, etc. etc. Also some a little larger for resin bottles, just jamb a piece of paper towel into the bottom so the bottle doesn't disappear. Fishing something out of the bottom of a pocket can be exasperating. The fabric also keeps the sun off the resin bottle if it's into the pocket with just the cap showing. At least I think it helps.
I use Cur'el? hand lotion for a suction cup lube. It stays greasy for a long time and allows cups to slide if you want them to. Here in the south west I have problems with stuff drying out too quickly in the low humidity. This hand lotion wipes off easily with soapy water and if you get some on you just rub it in. Not if it's contaminated with resin though.
I also carry a small scissors and a small needle nosed plier with me. Good for cutting up tabs into smaller pieces for use on chips. The correct size wrench for removing antennas that can get right in your way might be good to have too. I put them gently on the glass above the wipers so I don't forget to reinstall. Been there, done that.
