INSURANCE
Hi DEDBETEWEN,
The answer to your question isn't really a simple, straight forward one. Your insurance requirements are dictated by the type of business you want to solicit and the repair policies you create.
If you never handle your customer's keys, you should never damage their vehicle.
If you work mainly COD, fleet and dealership accounts, you only need minimal business liability coverage. Many independent insurance agents can sell you RLI Insurance (www.rlicorp.com/products/ihb.asp) home-based windshield repair general liabilty coverage for less than $200 a year.
If you decide to get involved with the networks, each of them has their own requirements (most of which are ridiculous for windshield repair). You can easily spend $1000 a year trying to meet their requirements and probably not get enough referrals to justify the cost, time and effort involved.

Re: INSURANCE

insurance?
hey all, insurance prices very from state to state. I know because I have insurance in 2 states. I have my insurance through Zurich, they have been very easy to work with. Never had a claim, hope I never do. My liability premium for my Washington state location was $250 for the year. My liability premium for my Las Vegas business was $465 for the year. The coverage is 1 million in aggregate and 2 million for each occurance. So the insurance I provided the networks seemed to satisfy them. However, I do not carry garage keepers on my policies which they say you need to qualify for the networks. Other than that I don't have anything else.
Take care all.
Take care all.
