99% alcohol

Post by clearvision » January 18th, 2016, 10:50 pm

I was using the 91% drug store alcohol before I saw you guys are using the 99 %.

I just got the 99% in from Frys.

Are there any precautions to take? Can it damage paint or bumpers if some gets on them ? Thanks!

Anytime you are using alcohol keep in mind that it absorbs into the skin very quickly and takes any contaminates that are on your skin with it, like resin for instance. So be sure to wear nitrile gloves or Derma Shield when cleaning your equipment.

I've never noticed pure alcohol being any more corrosive to paint, plastic or rubber than watered down formulations.

Thanks Brent! I never knew or thought about skin absorbing the alcohol!
