Keeping resin warm

Post by Dave M »

Here's an idea I'd like to share with all the cold weather repair techs. If you work in a cold weather climate an need to keep your resins warm, try this. I have a leather pouch that is sold as an accessory for Garmin GPS systems. It measures 3"w x 4"h x 1.2"w and will fit perfectly into my shirt pocket. I am able to fit 3 15cc (half ounce) bottles of resin. I wear my winter parka over this while outside and whether the repair is inside or out the resins are always nice and warm! These can be found on E-bay, Amazon and in stores that carry GPS systems. I wish I'd thought of this earlier because it really works well.

Can I add to this, that within a few seconds of the resin touching the glass it is the same temperature as the glass.

Good point Screenman, all the more reason to bring up the temperature of the windshield prior to repair!Nothing worse than working on a cold piece of glass. Techs need to follow their safe and normal procedure for warming the glass. My post or opinion was only about keeping resin warm if one prefers to do so.
